My Hero – Global iEARN Learning Circle Project

Here are our Global Friends who we will collaborate with for our Learning Circle project this term. I am so excited that we will collaborate with new schools in different countries.

Wendy Jewell, the Coordinator of My Hero Learning Circles, will be your group facilitator for this Elementary Circle. At the same time please remember, Learning Circles are participant-managed — that means you all share the responsibility for the management and success of this Circle.

    Hi Mrs Joyce,
    Cathy Freeman- slade point, Brisban, Australia
    she was an Australian she was an gold medalist in the olimpic games for the 400m sprint in the year 2000 and she got gold for the world championships in 1999 and 1997 for the 400m sprint as well. She has represented Australia in 16 teams, at 5 World championships, 3 Olympics, 3 Commonwealths, 2 World Juniors, 2 World Indoors, and 1 World Cup. She has received 13 medals in International Competitions, 7 of which have been gold. She has set 9 Australian open records and is the Commonwealth 400m record holder. On the World All-time lists she sits 6th in the 400m and 13th in the 4x400m.cathy freeman is an aboriginal and is a hero across Australia 🙂

    Nancy Wake- the White mouse
    Born in New Zealand in 1912 and then at the age of 2 she was brought to Australia to live, at 16 she ran away to New York then London and became a journalist, in this time she saw the rise of World War II, she became a spy and a known leader of the French resistance and one of the allies most decorated service women of the war for her efforts her honors included
    1. Companion of the order of Australia (commonwealth of Australia)
    2. George medal (uk)
    3. 1939-1945 star (commonwealth of nations)
    4. France and Germany star (commonwealth of nations)
    5. Defence medal (uk)
    6. Chevalier de la legion d’honneur (France)
    7. Officer de la legion d’honneur (France)
    8. Croix de Guerre (France)
    9. Medal of freedom (usa)
    10. Medaille de la resistance (France)
    11. Badge of gold (NZ)
    12. 1939-1945 war medal (uk)
    These medals are on display in the Australian war memorial museum in Canberra Australia, after the war Nancy worked for the British air ministry then came back to Australia and was involved in politic she even stood for liberal candidate in the 1949 election but didn’t win, she married and moved to port Maquire and stayed involved in politics and after her husband died in 2001 she left Australia for England where she lived her life at a home for disabled ex service men and women this is where she died in 2011 at the age of 98

    Hi, Mrs Joyce,
    My hero that I’m doing is Black Caviar a extraordinary race-horse, Black Caviar is a retired Australian Toroughbred racehorse undefeated in 25 races , including 15 Group One victories , eclipsing the previous mark set by Kingston Town. She was named WTRR Champion Sprinter in 2010,2011,2012,2013.

    Mrs Joyce is part of many global organisations and projects including iearn . She has been to China, India and Argentina.

    Mrs Joyce is famous for bringing global education into classrooms. But she found it hard been so passionate about education around the globe with no one to work with.
