Castle Building With 3D Shapes

LI: To apply your knowledge of 3D Shapes

Using your knowledge of three dimensional shapes, you are going to create a castle! Your masterpiece will be created out of 3-D shapes made from paper in the classroom using nets. Below are the requirements for your castle. If you choose to do more of one of the shapes that is fine, but you have to use at least what is required below.

  •  3 cones
  •  5 rectangular prisms
  •  6 cubes
  •  3 cylinders
  •  2 square pyramids
  •  2 triangular pyramids

Be sure to keep track of how many shapes you are using because in the end you will have to tell me how many total faces, vertices, and edges you have on your castle.

It’s always a good idea to have a plan before the main event so draw out your castle below making sure you include all the 3-D shapes you are going to need to create your masterpiece. Underneath, tally up how many shapes you are using.
