Inquiry Learning Makes Anything Possible – Learning About ‘What Is A Life Straw?’

Inquiry – Happy, Healthy Me

This term our Inquiry theme is Happy, Healthy Me. Students are investigating how to stay healthy and happy.

A pair of students have decided to explore the concept of Water. This has lead them to prepare an inquiry question about filtering water for safe use.

One of the Education Support Officers researched ways to filter water which lead her to investigate life staws and helping filter water in Africa.

Here are images of the students learning about how a life straw works and seeing one in use.

    Hi Bronwyn and students ,
We raised money to purchase life straws after the earthquake in Haiti for the school children there. Life straws are really amazing . We have a Peace Jam group at our school and every year we have a different project. One year it
Was supporting a school in Cambodia,Life Straws for Haiti, etc
    Love reading your blog!

Thanks Arlene, Thanks for commenting on our blog the students really believe they have a global audience when they see a message from teachers or students. I was in awe of the Life Straw and how it works. Such an amazing device to help those in places that have no access to clean water. We would love to do something to support the buying of life straws for a community.

Aslan must have been very brave to do that! I know I wouldn’t do that 🙂
